Run your first scan and read the Overview
Your checkup score, what each issue on the Overview means, and the one-click fixes. The first scan runs on its own after you accept the terms.
The Overview is GoConsent’s home screen. It shows your checkup score and a short list of plain-English issues, each with a button that fixes it or takes you to the right place. Your first scan runs in the background a few seconds after you accept the terms. If the Overview says “Not scanned yet”, click Scan now.

- Checkup score, with the last scan time, pages checked and counts of critical, warning and info items.
- Scan now runs a fresh scan. Scans also run once a day on their own.
- An info item: the laws checked against, with a shortcut to change who you serve.
- A warning with its fix: here, opt-out requests waiting for you.
What the scan looks at
The scan opens up to 10 of your public pages: your home page, your contact, booking, shop, cart and checkout pages if you have them, your privacy policy, your two most recently edited pages, and one recent item from up to three other content types, such as listings or products. It also reads your privacy policy as visitors see it.
How the score works
The score starts at 100. Each open critical item takes off 25 points and each warning 10. Info items don’t change it. Next to the score you’ll see how many items are left to fix, or “No issues found”.
How issues are sorted
- Critical: fix these first, such as blocking turned off, no privacy policy page found, unfamiliar scripts waiting for your review, or an overdue privacy request. They can’t be dismissed; use the button on each one.
- Warning: worth fixing soon, such as requests waiting for you or a privacy policy that doesn’t mention your advertising partners. A wording issue says which laws ask for it under Required by.
- Info: best practice and explanations, marked “Not legally required for your business today; recommended.” Dismiss what doesn’t apply; it comes back only if something changes.
Fixing a wording issue
Click Fix it to see suggested wording, filled in from your Settings. Add to Privacy Policy adds it for you on pages made in the block or classic editor, and saves a revision so you can undo it. On other pages, Copy & fix copies the text and opens your policy’s editor. If you’ve covered it another way, choose Mark as handled… and add a short reason. Everything you close is listed under Handled, with who did it and when.
If some pages couldn’t be scanned
The scan fetches your pages from your own server. To keep your site fast, it stops after two failed or slow pages, or after 45 seconds. You’ll then see a warning that explains why in plain English, for example that a firewall or security plugin blocked the scanner. Fix the cause and click Scan now.
Set your location in your business profile first. Until you do, the Overview shows a warning and can’t check your home-state law. Email alerts (on by default, in Settings) emails the site admin when a new critical issue appears. Pro adds more alerts and a monthly report: see Alerts and the monthly report.
The score measures your setup against GoConsent’s checks. It isn’t a legal opinion. Have a lawyer review your policies and how your business handles data.
