Banner and protection settings

Blocking, analytics before consent, maps and videos, look and position.

The Consent tab holds every banner and protection setting. Changes save instantly.

The GoConsent Consent tab with Protection settings on the left and Banner look on the right.
  1. Block tracking until consent: ads and unfamiliar scripts wait for a yes. Leave it on.
  2. Analytics before consent: Google Analytics counts visits without cookies until the visitor chooses. EU and UK visitors are excluded.
  3. Position of the banner on the screen.
  4. Privacy button: the small shield that reopens Your Privacy Choices.

Other settings on this tab

  • Maps & videos on by default: for real estate and other sites where embeds matter. Visitors can still turn them off.
  • Stricter defaults for EU & UK visitors: analytics and maps & videos stay off until they choose. Detected from the browser’s time zone; nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Button color: match your brand. Text color adjusts to stay readable.
  • Honor Global Privacy Control: on by default, as US state privacy laws require.
  • Host Google Fonts on this site: off by default. When on, the Google Fonts your pages use are served from your own site.
  • Banner: Always show or US opt-out. US opt-out shows no banner to US visitors, for sites with no ad tags or session recording. EU and UK visitors always get the banner.
  • Staff: roles that never get the banner or blocking. Administrators and editors are always included.
  • Ask everyone again after adding a new tool or changing your policy.
  • Consent records: how many choices are saved as proof, kept 24 months. Pick all records, the last 30 or 90 days or the last 12 months, then Download CSV.
  • “Powered by GoConsent” credit: a small link in the banner and at the bottom of Your Privacy Choices. Off by default in the free plugin, on by default with Pro.
  • Preview shows the banner the way visitors see it, and stays on as you click around.
