Switching

Move from WPConsent in five steps

  1. Install GoConsent

Free from WordPress.org. Accept its terms to turn it on.

  2. Deactivate WPConsent

So visitors see one banner. Keep a copy of its consent records first if you need them.

GoConsent lists every tracker on your site and what adds it.

  4. Update your policy pages

Build them in GoConsent’s Tools tab, and remove any WPConsent shortcodes from your old pages.

  5. Check the result

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is GoConsent a free alternative to WPConsent?

Yes. The free GoConsent plugin on WordPress.org has no visit limits, needs no account and runs on your own WordPress server. GoConsent Pro adds more for businesses that want it.

How much does GoConsent Pro cost compared with WPConsent?

GoConsent Pro is $49 a year for one site, with no traffic limit. WPConsent’s lowest plan for one site, Basic, is $49.50 the first year, then $99 a year.

Can I run GoConsent and WPConsent together?

We don’t recommend it. Two consent tools mean two banners and two sets of blocking rules. Deactivate WPConsent once GoConsent is installed.

Will my WPConsent consent records move to GoConsent?

No. GoConsent keeps its own records on your server from the day you install it. If you need WPConsent’s records as proof, keep a copy before you remove it.

When is WPConsent the better choice?

If you publish personalized ads to EU and UK visitors and need IAB TCF, a plugin that offers it fits better. GoConsent doesn’t include TCF.
